Road Trip Day 3: Swan's & Jelly Belly's

Our hotel in Anderson had swans swimming in the fountains. Anna and Sam were asked to feed the swans their breakfast. The swans eat a lot of food and it took Anna and Sam a long time to make sure all the swans got a good breakfast.

Sam took his job as swan feeder very serious. He also kept a tight hold on his bucket of swan food. He was not interested in sharing the feeding experience with any of the other hotel guest kids. Sam also tried to feed the koi in the fountains; unfortunately, they do not eat swan food.

We stopped at the Jelly Belly Factory for a tour after leaving Anderson. It is a much larger event then we anticipated. The factory has a restaurant, ice cream parlor, gift shop, vending machines, large costumed characters, and several jelly cars.

We met up with my high school friend and roommate Allie and her family for dinner our first night in San Francisco. I was able to finally meet her new baby girl for the first time. We ate in a really funky restaurant in North Beach with all sorts of interesting things to look at on the walls. Sam did not want to be there, so Charles and Sam drove around S.F. while we visited and ate dinner.

Road Trip Day 2: Ashland & Anderson

Since Sam decided that he was not going to sleep in the hotel room, we left Eagle Point a little earlier that planned and headed over to Ashland sightseeing and ice cream.

An antique store in Ashland gives out children's books. The store owner asked us to come in a pick out books. It was a really kind idea and Anna and Sam had quite a lot of fun looking over all the books and making their selections.

Sam did sleep almost the entire trip to Anderson ... he slept in between snacks.

We went to a water park (The waterpark does not allow camera inside the pool areas)near Anderson and it was an interesting experience, I do not think we are water park people. Anna and Charles did great on all the slides and splash pools. Sam and I spent the day sitting on the edge of the pool trying to decided if we wanted to slide in. Sam decided that he did not ... it was a long afternoon.

Road Trip Day 1: Wildlife Safari & Robert

We took a road trip to San Francisco for the last week of July. We did a lot of roadside tours and visits of friend and family on this trip. On the first day we visited Wildlife Safari on our way to see Cousin Robert in Eagle Point. The kids had a great time looking at all the animals and not being strapped into car seats for the first time ever.

Sam is a motor manic. He tried to drive us into a ditch and would scream if you tried to take the steering wheel.

Anna is she labeled "excellent driver!"

We ended the day with a fantastic dinner and gravel pit extravaganza with cousin Robert and all of the Field's. The kids were so happy to see everyone. Sam had to be fed dinner while planning trucks in the gravel pits. I wish I had taken my camera out to capture all the great times.

Dumbo Visits The Zoo

On Sunday, Anna told us Dumbo wanted to see live elephants. I think he had a pretty good time.

Dumbo was not allowed in the goat coral. The keeper told Anna that the goats like eat plush toys often.

The dollar taking vulture does not like Dumbo ... man can that bird scream.

We also got to watch the hippo swim for the first time. It was really neat to watch, she was swimming after floating apples.

R.I.P Ants

After two days of Sam shaking the ant farm whenever he could sneak a shake in, all the ants have passed on. I have ordered a second set from Uncle Milton and I hope they will live in our house longer then a week.

Ants

Anna's ant for her farm arrived this afternoon. The ants seem to be settling into their new home nicely. I am a little concerned as the instructions that came with the ants said that they can be sort of aggressive and can bite ... I hope they remain on the farm and not loose in the house.

Since it is finally hot here we can eat Popsicles, run in sprinklers (thanks Steph), and change into a different sundress at least three times a day.

Paint!

Everyone has been thinking about paint around here ..

I have been trying to pick out a new house color. When you go to the paint store and ask for a creamy, rich yellow you get a lot of options.
